WHAT IF I...?
Your Dependent Loses Eligibility

When your natural born, legally adopted or stepchild marries, reaches age 19 or, if a full-time student, reaches age 25, he or she is no longer eligible for benefits coverage as a dependent child.

  • Notify Valassis. Within 31 days of the loss of dependent status for an eligible dependent, notify your Human Resources Representative or contact the HR Solution Center at 1-877-238-6847. You may also enter the change in status online through www.valassisbenefits.com

  • Consider COBRA coverage. If no longer covered under your Valassis benefit plan, your dependents may be eligible for continuation of medical, dental, vision and prescription benefits under the provisions of COBRA. Special rules apply if your dependent became mentally or physically handicapped before reaching the maximum eligibility age and must depend on you for maintenance and support.
