Medical Coverage
Health care benefits provide needed protection to our associates and
their families. Valassis offers two medical plan options: the Traditional
PPO and the Health Choice Savings Plan. Each is designed to provide
comprehensive coverage to fit differing needs. They are both administered
by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and provide associates with a
broad range of network physicians across the country.
Both the Traditional PPO and Health Choice Savings Plan offer 100%
coverage for routine annual physical examinations and associated health
screenings. The Traditional PPO trades a lower plan deductible in exchange
for higher associate payroll contributions. The Health Choice Savings
Plan’s larger up-front deductible is offset by 100% coverage after
the deductible, as well as the option of enrollment in a Health Savings
Account. Shortly following your enrollment in one of the medical plans,
you will receive a Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan ID card.
Prescription Drug Program
Prescription drug coverage for each plan is administered by Caremark/CVS.
Caremark has a nationwide network of over 50,000 participating pharmacies
that includes national chains like CVS, Kroger, Rite-Aid, Walgreen and
many more. Your enrollment with Caremark is automatic upon your enrollment
in medical coverage. However, you will receive a separate Caremark ID
card to use when purchasing prescriptions.
ID Cards
Shortly after your enrollment, you will receive a health care plan card
from Blue Cross Blue Shield, and a separate Caremark ID card for prescription
drug purchases.
